Volumes include the names and addresses of party members for Charleston wards 1-6, 9, and 12 and whether they belonged to the "regular" or "reform" wing of the party. Most volumes include a tally of votes received by George D. Bryan, the reform candidate, and J. Adger Smyth, the regular candidate, for the office of mayor of Charleston.

James Adger Smyth was a Charleston businessman and was the valedictorian of the College of Charleston in 1858. He was also a member of Company A of the 25th South Carolina Infantry in 1862.
